Mission and Operations

Seminary of the Rockies’ purpose is to attract and prepare men and women to help grow the Presbyterian church. Understanding that the Presbyterian church continues to struggle overall with declining membership and often the inability to draw younger people into the church, Seminary of the Rockies will focus exclusively on training its students to work in the church as pastors and in specialized ministries, such as new church development.

The seminary’s operations will be unique in the sense that many of its teachers will be well-known pastors and leaders in current Presbyterian churches, who will teach in areas that are most relevant to the church — preaching, worship, administration and leadership, biblical studies, theology and history. In addition, Seminary of the Rockies will regularly invite leaders in other fields — industry, education, and others — to conduct seminars on the intangibles of success in the ministry, such as leadership and attitude.

Seminary of the Rockies will be located in a beautiful mountain community, which offers tremendous opportunities for outdoor adventure, fantastic recreational options and access to the University of Colorado, well-known for its outstanding educational culture.
